Extraterrestrial

2011 comedy

Rating: 14/20

Plot: A guy wakes up in a beautiful woman's apartment, but isn't sure if he "hit that" or not. Then, they discover that the streets are empty and there's a UFO outside, presumably with at least one of the titular beings from beyond earth in them. Conflicts arise when the gal's boyfriend and another guy--a neighbor who is obsessed with her--show up.

Yep, watched this just because it was directed by a guy named Nacho, the same guy who did Timecrimes. This isn't as good as Timecrimes, but it's also completely different than Timecrimes. Don't go into this expecting a science fiction action movie or anything because the aliens barely matter at all here. Actually, I'm not even sure if you can say it has aliens. It has a UFO. It's not a bad romantic comedy, and the female lead Julia was played by Michelle Jenner who is what you'd call fetching. Amusing, if not actually funny, little twists and turns keep this dialogue-and-character-driven comedy going. Peaches, explosions, the funniest-looking tank you'll ever see, and lots and lots of tennis balls. Don't you dare watch this before Timecrimes though.

Sorry this is so short, Nacho Vigalondo. Speaking of him, I also just found out that he directed the first segment in that ABC's of Death horror anthology. I don't remember if his was one of the good ones or not. Anyway, see Timecrimes.
