Plot: The story of how Ted Kennedy drunkenly crashed his car and killed a woman and then, along with his posse, tried to cover it up enough to save his political career.
This is a story that deserved to be told, a story about the corrupting influence of power and prestige, but it's hard to figure out what the point is. There's just something missing from this movie that would give it the edge it needs to be really meaningful or contemporary. The performances are fine, especially Ed Helms in a non-comedic role and Jason Clarke who is recovering from Winchester. The period details are great although this is the type of place that doesn't really change all that much anyway. Maybe people in this neck of the woods still drive cars and wear ties like that.
I was inspired to do some research while sitting on the toilet to figure out how accurate this movie was, and according to Wikipedia, it seems like it's an accurate retelling of one version of the story. So don't accuse me of not putting forth any effort with these reviews. You think skimming a Wikipedia page is easy?
I don't feel like saying anything else about this. I only saw it because I thought I'd be the only person in the theater, but there were a few others, probably people who couldn't get in to see the Avengers movie.
