1966 Godard funk

Rating: 15/20

Plot: A couple of kids fall in love.

Bergman called this movie boring. I liked it better than him, but there's always something about Godard that makes it seem like he was too sure of himself. You almost have to appreciate this because of the risks he takes in telling this story, one that I'd argue actually is pretty boring. The story's fragmented, there's not much of an effort to make the characters easy to connect with or even easy to like, and the playful avant-garde approach sometimes makes you wonder if Godard really knew what he wanted this movie to be.
